On August 8th I created an account at Steam Users' Forums. One of the requirements for the accounts to be accepted there is that the user must link the forum account with their Steam account using this link:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/betacheck/.
Immediately after I registered, I confirmed my registration using the validation link sent to my email address. Then I tried to connect my accounts, I clicked the link and followed all the required steps but the accounts wouldn't become connected. I kept trying this for five days to no avail. So I opened a ticket and waited for a reply.
Meanwhile, on the 14th of August, my forum account was approved by a moderator even though my accounts weren't connected yet. So I added a new comment to the ticket informing the support team about this. I still wasn't able to link my accounts at this point.
17 days after I reported the problem, this was their reply:
"Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
We apologize for the delay.
All new forum accounts must be linked with a Steam account within seven days of creation, or the registration will be declined.
Once you have created a new forum account, please follow the link below to complete the process:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/betacheck/"
Well, first my registration wasn't declined, it was approved and I told them this.
Then they tell me I have to follow a link that I already knew about (I even included it in my report) and which I clearly stated was not working for me?
It's frustrating to wait 17 days for an answer and then realize that they did not even understand what the problem was!
