Say someone that's been struggling with their weight and has been self conscious of it for a very long time and think that it makes them a bad person has someone that they respect come up and tell them "wow, you're really an ugly fat fuck". Yes, it is a pretty dumb thing to get depressed over, but if you already have low self esteem due to something like that to have someone come in and reassure that belief can really fuck with someone. Also, before someone tries to come in and tell me "well I went through something like that and I felt fine", I'll let you in on something here, NOT EVERYONE HAS THE SAME LEVEL OF MENTAL FORTITUDE. This is basic psychology people. If you really want to test this, go up to 100 random people and scream "Hey, fuck you" to all of them and I guarantee you almost all of them will react differently. This idea that everyone is a perfect mirror image of you psychologically that so many people seem to have is incredibly ignorant, and the amounts in which I've seen this kind of logic being used on this forum as of late has been driving me up the walls.

RE: Random Stuff

Also, on the topic of that little rant on the last page, can someone give me an example of someone killing themselves over being dumped that didn't have some sort of a history with mental illness and didn't have any other contributing factors? No really, I'm curious Smile

RE: Random Stuff

When I was watching TV this morning, I saw a commercial. It said that you shouldn't watch your kids near bodies of water that were deep because they weren't in danger of drowning.

WHY?!

A commercial? What were they selling?
"Do You have a problem with watching your kids when you really shouldn't be? Well, fret no more, with Kids-Away! That's right: We'll come to YOUR house, and relieve you of your kids, and don't watch them FOR you, so that they can live a free and carefree life. Call now, and we'll also throw in these concrete shoes, in case they come back."

They weren't selling anything. It said "Do you watch your kids every day?"

"Stop watching. They're too small to fail.

"Visit (randomwebsite.random) to learn why."

In the background it showed a toddler desperately swimming for help. It made me sick.

I hope you aren't going to use Cyanide and Happiness on this thread like CorinthianMerchant uses DeviantART on the Pony Megathread.
