It's no worse than eating kidneys really. They're soaked in pee too, only it happens while they're still in the body. I used to enjoy a steak-and-kidney pie until someone pointed that out to me.

If I wasn't aware of the kidneys being kidneys, I would gladly allow one into my digestive system if they seem disguised as something like the chicken you would have in a taco.

Monkfish, defo. They may be uuuugly, but once they're on your plate it's just white fish meat.

Weirdest thing I've eaten is what called sweetbreads where I come from. Sweetbread is usually fried or poached pancreas, but where I come from it's the testicles of a castrated bull (Rocky Mountain Oysters in the US). They didn't taste bad, but the thought is what really put me off.
