Yes.

Is this from the Sewers level? It could always be made with exceptions to have the brute not disappear. I'm just saying in general, the entity on its own does. I guess I was thinking more of custom stories than the main game. In the main game they've done well to make it inconsistant and to hide any sort of pattern.
