And will we have easy tile walls like in hpl2. I hope so..
I don't think you will get the models shipped with the editors, allthough it is highly possible that you'll be able to convert them from Amnesia. What's the point though?
The point is just to give the modders more than just sci-fi-like models. Maybe I'm being too spoiled though.

RE: HPL3
I'm looking at HPL3 for a potential project in the fall, and I was wondering, would multiplayer be possible in it? I'd imagine that would involve some serious hacking, but I think I could really sell my team on the engine if this were achievable.
(For that matter, is this possible in HPL2? )

RE: HPL3
No, multiplayer in HPL is not possible.
The engine has zero netcode.

That sounds interesting, but won't happen.. And I've already written a draft story for my custom story for the hpl3 engine.
It's 2133, You're name is Matthew Horton, a former UFO investigator. You now work for a secret company that only the U.S. government knows about called, "The Felps Research". The founder owns several space stations and underwater facilities.
SEE! I GOT THIS!!
Now I just need a really good scripter..

Ah yeah, I searched the forums after posting (like a dingus), so I'm aware of the absence of networking now. I'm also aware of how contentious this has been, so please forgive me if I'm stepping over some boundaries.
However, absence of networking doesn't mean local multiplayer is impossible; unless it would really break the source code, it'd just require having multiple instances of a player controller, yes? Of course, there's other issues as well (splitscreen, scope, etc.)...
I'm just curious if it's within the realm of possibility for a team of modders. Again, sorry if I'm reopening wounds here.

RE: HPL3
The source code is note open source, so that is not something we can currently do.

RE: HPL3
I am really curious will HPL3 be open for making games, not only mods and conversions. I mean self-contained games for releasing independently, free or commercially with some sort of fee to Frictional. I really hope that overall movement in the industry is changed so much, so that Frictional might open up engine similar to Unreal engine, CryEngine, Unity. HPL3 looks like a competitor to them for many reasons.

The main problem is, you need an application capable of reading and interpreting the .map and .hps files. That's the primary purpose of a(n isolated) Full Conversion, as it allows you to use Amnesia/SOMA as an executable to read the compatible files and also allowing users to make their own kind of HPL project
And not to downplay, but those engines are capable of supporting much heavier products and are frequently updated for up to date standards in graphics and processing, and are much more likely to contain diverse projects that are not simply custom stories.

Nah. This was for HPL2, but I'm pretty sure HPL3 will be the same when it comes to sell the license.

RE: HPL3
HPL3 is an engine built for one game and one game alone. Unreal, Unity and Cryengine are massive flexible engines that can be used to build pretty much anything. HPL simply can not do that.
