RE: Modeling/Art non-related to Amnesia

Seen it awhile ago Hirnwirbel, still digging the first shot =P.

I haven't done anything significant lately to post here... Hopefully my Dead Space costume comes out well in the end and perhaps maybe showcase it somehow.

loltalent

This was the last thing I drew in maybe about an hour, maybe two:

Why the watermark? I doubt you have to worry about anyone wanting to steal that...
That's not very nice of you :]

Since you're all high and mighty, show us some of your work

See, but what you did wasn't criticism.
Criticism is "The texture seems to need more grunge to it. Maybe a scratch here, here, and here. It also could use some additional noise here and there. You can improve X by doing Y. Z needs more W."
"What you have isn't very good. You lack X, Y, and Z. Perhaps by improving on these, you'll get a better product."

"It's bad and nobody would ever want to use it."
That's not criticism. That's just being a douche. If you're going to criticize things in this manner, it's advisable to detail why you feel that way. ^^

I just think it looks bad - whats the point of showing people your work and expecting no criticism whatsoever? Anyway I have no idea why most creators here act like this...

Creator/artist (depends on what you call an artist): OH NOES NOT KRITIZISM!!! QUICK WE MUST MAKE SMUG REMARKS TO PROTECT OUR MAASSZIVE EGOS!
I don't know why you're so resentful towards others around here, but don't bring whatever you have going on bothering you at home, here. We are not your scapegoats. You responded to others in other threads a bit unnecessarily consecutively for some reason I do not know. Please don't start that again....

And watermarks are used to reserve the property of the artist. Without it, someone may come along, take what they need, and use it in works of theirs and charge for it. The artist who did that work is wrongfully uncredited and unpaid for the work they put out. Stealing work that is originally watermarked, and using it for your own advantage is pretty much piracy to an extent. And what Traggey drew is worthy of a watermark because it is quite a well-done handpainted texture. In my opinion, I think his watermark should cover more area. His watermark is not too hard to fix out by professional Photoshoppers.

Now this is a thread for art, let's not continue this further, okay? - To anyone who feels the urge to respond to the minor mishap, resist it please. For the puppies.

Character is not rendered, I just made a screenshot with Xoliul viewport shader for 3ds Max. (That's why there are no shadows) He's exactly 13.000 tris - so yeah, not exactly the type of model you'd throw into HPL, more fitting for UDK maybe. ^^
Hirnwirbel, what engine or game are you working in? It seems a fallout or something like that. I love your work! Big Grin

If I tried to do a drawing, this is what I would get:

I hope Hirnwirbel would not mind if I answer...
It's UDK and it's written right on screenshots. UDK is Unreal engine. The only serious competitor to modern CryEngine. Especially if you've seen summer Unreal 4 upcoming version technical demo, which is fantastic (the matter of taste). As for latest Unreal games, than Dishonored is made on heavily modified Unreal 3.5 version.

And, Hirnwirbel - looks like an absolutely pro work. I really hope that's not just a hobby, but a real job - I mean modeling and arts - you're living on. If not - you're wasting your talent Wink

She works as a modeller, Alex. Only a pro could do that!

Modelling and animating is indeed my job. Well, technically I'm a freelancer, but mostly working for one project at the moment so I guess you could call it a job. Wink I'm not doing such detailed stuff at work though, since the company I work for right now specialises in Tablet and Smartphone games. (using Unity engine)
Which is not as boring as it sounds btw - In a way it feels like going back in time, because you have to pay attention to polycount as if it was the year 2000 not 2012 and you get to use animated sprites for characters and whatnot Big Grin Fun stuff, but I'm creating more detailed models in my free time to balance things out a bit.
Quote: Only a pro could do that!
Aawww, stop it, you! I'm far from being a pro - I only graduated recently and am still a junior artist Wink
