Texture Upgrade

Has anyone who is good with texture's ever thought about doing this?
Just upgrading the resolution and general quality for example of the textures in the game?

I mean, obviously it's a little late to be modding this game since we loom closer and closer to SOMA and not much actually gets done in the way of modding and everyone who was legitimately good at modeling/texturing have moved on, But just a simple question.

Has this ever been thought about before?

I've thought about this quite a lot. Technically it'd be possible to update meshes with textures and create a crazy HD mod for PCs that can handle it.
