That is a good point, asdasd!
There is a fine balance between providing too much information and too little.
I can imagine that if I was going to mod SOMA, I would attempt to disable the guidance "icons" and keep/add a mild "glow" effect on the intractable items. That should be just enough to keep the game's ambiance (if not enhance it!) without reminding the player that this is a game.
Some of the best games have minimal HUD to keep you grounded in the game, and I hope this will be the case with SOMA too.
