Game crashes on startup

I have tried everything in the troubleshooting guides. The hpl.log file doesn't even make it to the version text before it crashes. I've attached both that and the dxdiag file.

What are your PC specs?
Gog or Steam?

PC Specs are in the dxdiag. I bought it on steam. And besides a short CPU usage spike before telling me that it crashed, it immediately returns to normal.

How does it crash?
Does it throw you back to the desktop or does it show u an error message like: xxx stopped working! ?

Your specs are enough to run soma... as i proudly demonstrated with my toaster pc

It gives me the typical error message as attached below. My computer is pretty old and I was afraid somebody would tell me that it wouldn't work, thanks for confirming otherwise for me.

Pls update that: AMD OpenGL driver

Yes, should work if you update the drivers for the graphics card. Visit amd.com and download and install the latest driver available.

Thank you very much for your help. I now realize that the problem lies in the fact that my graphics driver updating software keeps crashing midway through installation, which is why none of the graphics fixes have been working. I'm now trying to find a way around that.
