Game lagging

I triple checked, and I have the minimum requirements for Soma, but yet it is slow and lags. I'm not sure what to do. It is playable, but it is super annoying and again super slow. It's taken me forever just to get though the beginning of the game. I've played all the Penumbra's and Amnesia's fine. Please help! I've been looking forward to this game for years now and if I can't get it fixed all I can probably do is try and get a refund for it. And that would suck.

The main setting to change to improve the performance is running at a lower resolution. Could also be some specific setting/conflict on the system that causes lower than intended performance, but to troubleshoot that you would need to provide some information about your system.
