I'm not entirely sure where this thread went with that last post but the reason it says it cant load PointLight2D is because you cant run penumbra from vs (it effs up the path setting and the exe cant find anything).
it has to be placed in the redist folder of an original penumbra install and run from there.
from there you can attach a debugger to the process from VS.
you might also like to find your settings.cfg (may be in your documents somewhere) and change fullscreen to false.

hmmm, it loads, I can play game, but when I enter store room or load a save of game at certain parts it crashes.

I am using MS VS C++ 2008 express edition.

I can get as far as the store room, when I try to go into the store room it loads then crashes.

try attaching a debugger and seeing where it crashes? I think ricky might have a fix for it in his forked HPL engine, there should a post somewhere in the forum for HPL detailing his fixes
(this is just me guessing though, I personally havent run into this problem.)

This hints that the serializer is not compiled correctly. As that part uses quite a lot of tricks, you might wanna check the code. There should be a test for the engine where it should be simpler to debug.

Hi everyone. I hope it doesn't seem selfish that my first post here is regarding errors I've been running into. (With the original .exe Overture is easily one of the best games I've ever played)

Unfortunately I am also encountering a crash at the loading of the storage room in both debug and release builds.

In the release version it seems to be caused by the deallocation of a 'cPlayer_GlobalSave_CameraPS' pointer and also I get a nearly identical log file to alfie.

The debug build causes a failed assertion ('vector subscript is out of range') because of line 475 in AINodeContainer.cpp (in BuildNodeGridMap())

I have tried to solve this problem this problem myself and if I do I will be sure to post the solution here but atm the code is just a little beyond me.
Also, I am using VS 2008.

Thanks for the help. I think I will just(once I get a new PSU) DL VS10 and compile under that as detailed by the guide.
