Extra demo map

Well... I can't wait, so I decided to recode the last level a bit, to see if I could do that scary shit too xD

It's the same level, but the level script is changed.

Since it's a demo, I'm not really sure whether or not FG is keen on having more levels in the demo. (It still shows the demo screen at the end, though)

But I guess that's what's moderators are for.

Anyway: http://www.treesoft.dk/amnesia/amnesia_d...st_map.zip

Update: Modified the second map too. Same installation procedure!
http://www.treesoft.dk/amnesia/mortens_test_map2.zip

Installation
Browse to your Amnesia demo redist folder (Default: C:\Program Files\Amnesia - The Dark Descent Demo\redist)
Rename the folder "maps" to something else, eg. "maps_original".

Then copy the folder "maps" from the .zip you downloaded above, so that you now have

"C:\Program Files\Amnesia - The Dark Descent Demo\redist\maps".

I modified the script of the last level, but renamed it to the first, so that it launches directly when you click "Start new game".

Tell me, if I made it scary, lol... Well... If you jumped off the chair or out the window, I guess I got the effect I wanted.

It took a few hours (I'm a perfectionist, lol).

Can't wait to get my hands on the map editor, which I assume we are going to get our hands on?

RE: Extra demo map

I was the most scared when I came to the water part and the monster didn't appear.. that made me feel unsure of what to expect and steadily more nervous, and the first rumble in the last room nearly made me jump.

Good work, playing with the player's expectations is very effective Smile

Interesting level, I felt the pounding in the last room was a bit overdone and made it less tense. In my opinion, less predictable and frequent bangs would have been far more unsettling.

Additionally, in the last room, there was some sort of vision effect applied. I assume this is already implemented into the game since you could script it, but do you know what intended use Frictional Games has for that effect?

It's a simple radial blur effect. It is in fact used for several things. For example the black outs.

On a side node, I added a new level I made (well, second level, re-scripted).
