INTRO
This is a tutorial intended to help people out with adding more than one texture onto a single entity in Amnesia. In this case, I will use a framed picture as an example, one texture being for the frame and picture and the other being for the glass. You would want to use multiple textures in a situation like this because, lets say the frame of the picture is wooden. If you exported the entire model with the glass and frame and you gave it one texture, then you would be forced to decide upon giving the material either the properties of glass or wood. With multiple textures, you can specify what material has what property to get more realistic and convenient results. In the end, the glass in the model would be transparent and would sound like glass when hit and the frame would sound like wood when hit.
PREREQUISITES
You must...
1. Have some modeling experience.
2. Know how to map/lay out UVs.
3. Have some experience with Amnesia's HPL2 Editing software.
TUTORIAL
Step 1: First of all, know this: your model will have to be separated into different parts to have multiple textures, each part taking one texture. In this case, we separate the framed picture into two parts; the frame and picture will be one part, and the glass will be another part. Take your model and do the same; separate your model so that each part that you want to have a different texture is a separate mesh.
Step 2: Now that you have your model separated properly, lay out the UVs for each model. Once that's done, make a texture for each part of your model. Make a new folder anywhere in your Amnesia directory. Export the textures to that folder.
Step 3: Apply every texture to each part of your model in whatever program you are using and make sure you use the textures you put in the Amnesia directory, then select all your meshes and export all of them to the folder you created earlier with all your textures as a .dae file. NOTE: Do NOT combine the meshes into one mesh.
Step 4: Now open the Material Editor for Amnesia and create a .mat file for each texture you have and give each texture a unique property.
Step 5: Open up the .dae file you exported before into the Model Editor and all the textures should be there with the meshes.
Conclusion: If you followed all these steps correctly, you should now successfully have a model with multiple textures. Congrats
