Question about modifications

What are good practices for modifying the game content (music, scripts, models, textures, etc.)? Is there some sort of overrides folder or you have to manually backup your data folders and replace the content?

If you only randomly want to modify then there is no override folder, but if you want to modify for use in a custom story then you can do your modifications and put them into your custom story folder. As explained here http://hpl2.frictionalgames.com/amnesia:custom_story
