			| Sounds That Make You Shiver

Hmm, I'm just wondering why certain sounds can make you shiver. Like for example, scratching nails on a chalkboard. I'm not hearing it now, but just thinking about it is already making my back feel tingly in an uncomfortable way.
I have no idea why this happens. Also, grinding your teeth produces the same effect. Ugh, I really feel uncomfortable now I'm shivering lol!

The metal on metal sounds in Silent Hill makes me nervous ....
...also the sound of crying little girls.

For me? It's squealing brakes on a car/bus/truck. I work in NYC and I'm a field tech. I hear squealing/screeching brakes all freakin day. It drives me up the wall! I feel it right in my spine...ughhh just thinking about it | |

I wish I had the patience (spelling?) to drive in NYC. I'm actually commuting into work on the long island railroad right now lol. More squeling brakes. People on their cell phones, ipods turned up way to high. I can't win :-)

Cutting cardboard with knife (moving the knife back and forward makes the worst shivers).

For me, it's Styrofoam--whether you crush it, break it, rub your fingers against it, or WHATEVER, the ensuing noise is enough to send chills up my spine.
I wish I understood why people react like that to such harmless sounds...some kind of defense mechanism in our genes?

When someone's pencil has no eraser left, and they're still trying to erase. That grating sound of metal on paper/a desk is so awful for me, it makes me shiver just thinking about it! D:
