Problem when the character is crouching

When I type the "crouch" command the character does a micro movement downward and then proceeds to crouch. Vice versa he does a micro movement upward and then he gets up. Is it supposed to be like this or not? In all the other first person games that I've played (even Amnesia and Penumbra) the character does a full movement up to down and vice versa without split it in two parts.
