Advancements in the engine?

i was just wondering what kind of things to expect that diffrent from the tech demo in overture engine power wise. Also if modding projects should be postponed till overture comes out.

There will be outdoor areas, there will be some optimizations, the rest I only guess.

As already mentioned of the bigger additions is Depth of Field. There is aslo updates on the specular allowing coloured highlights and fogging is also added. Most of the addtions are improvements though, both optimizations and compitabilty. There is also a massive amount of bugs fixed.

I'm curious about how the Depth of Field effect will behave in the game. Does the focus point always stay at the center of the screen or does it follow the cursor when the player switches to the free manipulation mode?

RE: Advancements in the engine?

well i think it follows the cursor.
but good depth of field is rly system sensitive (the game is allready pretty heavy)
on garrys site (garry.tv) he showed some stuff of proper dof (=with shaders, no cheap tricks) and he says its only for taking screens, not allways on(as said here: http://www.garry.tv/?p=162)
it allso depends on the way you do i tough :p

Depth of field is used when examining stuff so you know what you are looking at.
