Light Rays

Does anyone know a custom story or full conversion mod that has the light rays nailed down? It's quite tough to get them look nice so i'd like to take a look at some...and perhaps...steal their creation Big Grin

RE: Light Rays

There was one... I'm not sure I remember the name right... I think it was AMNESIA THE DARK DESCENT
Spoiler below!
Seriously though, Frictional Games know their stuff. I have never seen a better use of light rays than in the original game, it's tough to even copy that.

For any inspiration in mapping your go-to is the Dark Descent. When you look at it in the editor you can actually appreciate the amount of details they put.

But if you're looking for some unusual model usage, check out most famous Custom Stories on ModDB

RE: Light Rays

I usually use the ones from the original game. I export the rays via the editor, and import them on my maps.

RE: Light Rays

You can do that ? How ? Would be hella useful.

Just to be clear, I'm not big on copying stuff from FG. But light rays is something really, really tough to do properly.

1. Open a Amnesia: TDD map in the level editor.
2. Click on the entity/static object/particle etc that you would like to use. (hold shift to click multiple)
3.Go to: "FILE" in the top left corner while having everything selected.
4. Click on "EXPORT SELECTION" and give it a name and save it. (can be anything and anywhere)

5. Go to the level that you are creating/or going to create.
6. Again go to "FILE" and click on "IMPORT OBJECTS". Pick the file that you've saved and there you go!

7. You might have to look for the exported objects because they spawn at the exact same location.

Have fun Smile

RE: Light Rays

Wow. I have been dabbling in the level editor for 3 years and haven't found that option.
Cheers

EDIT: Going back on topic, if you want to copy them, there were some badass rays in the 11_study map.

Yeah, I do it the exact same way as Goodcap explained. It makes life SO MUCH EASIER.

RE: Light Rays

And you can group them on a compound to rotate them together. (pressing B)
