I've been playing through Amnesia with a trackball and I've noticed that I seem to have far more trouble rotating things (like cranks/pulleys) than I have noticed mouse users do. Is there any way to fix this?

Have you downloaded the patch?

If not, first try turning ON mouse smoothing and see if that helps.

I do have the patch (downloaded through Steam) but I'll try turning on mouse smoothing and see if that helps at all.

Unfortunately mouse smoothing doesn't seem to help at all. If it matters at all, this is what I'm using to play: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product

I am afraid that I cannot help out any more though Sad

The game has only been developed with mouse in mind, but if I get hold of trackball I will see if there is some fix to be made. Unfortunately it will not be happening anytime soon though.

Hope it is possible for you to play it some other way.

It's playable. It's just things like cranks and pulleys take a long time to get rotated for me. Hopefully it's something that can be fixed eventually though. Other than that though, I'm loving the game. The physics engine and the controls feel so much better than Black Plague. Thank you for your time and help. Smile

I understand the trackball is the main feature of that mouse, but it has a left and right click... can't you just use those for this game? Or are the left and right click completely different on that mouse? I've heard of one of these, but I've never used one before.

The left and right click aren't the problem. The way the system is set up to allow you to easily rotate cranks and pulleys and whatnot with a mouse doesn't work the same way with a trackball. It makes it quite a bit more difficult to do so.

Begs the question - why even use a trackball?

It's like people who use trackpads on laptops instead of plugging in a mouse. Crazy times.
