Amnesia killed the horror genre

I understand what the opening post is going for. Personally, Amnesia made me conquer my fear of the horror genre as well, but instead of killing it for me, it made me want to seek out something even more terrifying. The genre has been redefined by Amnesia, and that in no way means that the genre is dead; quite the contrary, developers will now have to reach new heights if they want fans to compare their games. I'd excited for what the future holds.

This is coming from a person who was scared of everything horror-related, save for the old school horror flicks. Nonetheless, I haven't been this scared from a game since my kindergarten years, trying to muster up the courage to fight a freaking ReDead in Zelda.

You know everyones entitled to there own opinions... but i'd be carful what you say about penumbra on the forum for the very company that developed the game.

Penumbra is an amazing game, despite its age, the graphics and gameplay are great. The atmosphere does not match up to Amnesia, that's fair enough, but I still love it. In some ways it's better than Amnesia.
