They are both scary imo , and both deserve the title Survival Horror.
You know you're going to get the plasma cutter to kill that enemy easily. Is the gore supposed to be scary or something? At least the embarrassing ad for DS2 implied so. In Amnesia, you don't necessarily don't know what to do except for run like hell, and even that doesn't work every time.

				@ dmdmdm

nah , the gore also don"T scare me much.

It"S just the situation you find youreself in.

Just imagine that you could experience the above (attacked by the monster from Deadspace2 or Amnesia) in REAL LIFE ...

Now don"T tell me you won"T be scared.

Also , remember that in real-life there are no trainers/cheats , so if you lose your 1 and only life it"S GAME OVER...

Not respecting people's scares is what we should not bother with. Some can be scared of even Left 4 Dead, and it's not fake.

Dead Space is not scary because any time you hand me heavy weaponry, I am not scared anymore, and in fact WELCOME horrible monsters, so that I can dispense my own personal brand of justice upon them.

exactly what i think....when i first started to play amnesia after i got my latern i thought *right where is my weapon....* then i start to realise its not going to come so i start to get afraid of whats round the next corner. no matter what the weapon you feel alot safer and less scared with it...sword/gun or whatever weapon that cutter gun is.

RE: Amnesia killed the horror genre

1: Dead Space was NOT meant to be a scary game at all.

2: On Dead Space, you have A LOT of (powerful) guns and med kits and stuff. you feel a lot safer, then.

3: On Dead Space it isn't so easy to be immersed... as a third person game, that is IMPOSSIBLE. When I die i'm just like "meh, i'm just going to rape these monsters now".

4: CHEAP SCARES! oh how I hate cheap scares. In Dead Space 2 I didn't had any jump scare (i'm on chapter 8 yet) and on the first one i had around only 3 jump scares.

and a lot of other stuff that makes Dead Space 2 not scary (yeah, lots of grammar errors, sorry about that, I guess.)
