RE: Should Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs be for PC and PS3?

I don't think they will. I don't care because I don't have a PS3 anyway, but if they do, I'm glad for them.

If they don't release it on PC then I'm in for a world of hurt.Big Grin

RE: Should Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs be for PC and PS3?

This is... I... Why? Fuck... The controls for Amnesia aren't that complicated and could easily be translated to a controller. There are many people who play consoles like you'd play a computer: close up to the monitor and headphones on and you can still be immersed fully while playing on a tv so the tv argument is invalid. However the xbox doesn't support the code so that is obviously a no-go. As for the PS3, does it support the code? If it does then maby a port would come in the future when they have time. But I highly doubt that porting games would be of any priority for a studio the size of FG, they're better off making new games but I wouldn't be suprised if their next project will be avaliable for consoles judging from the workdescription on an ad on their website. But to answer this very strangely stated question: I don't think Amnesia should be avaliable to PS3.

That's not the point. This has nothing to do with those people. This is about the people who want to be able to play this game on a console. Not everybody has a PC or can afford a PC. And games like this should be put on consoles. More people buy games on consoles than PC's. So it would be a huge gain for Frictional Games, a little loss will be involved but more gain

...that kinda was my point. Wink

RE: Should Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs be for PC and PS3?

As I mentioned in the other topic, my opinion is that it would not cause the same immersion since interaction with objects would be less ... well, less real. For instance, the way doors are handled is what I feel a big part of the game. How would one open doors and chests with a controller? You do not reach out and grab with a mouse, you would only slightly move your thumb on the controller's analogue stick, or something like that. This next thing might just be silly me, but I also felt in a way that the way I reach out and look around with my mouse makes it feel like I am in the game and looking around with my lantern. x3

Other than things like that, go ahead. Though there is also the thing to consider that Frictional Games is a really small company with limited resources, so I think they will be focusing on developing Amnesia for PC only and optimize their game for only one platform. Perhaps they will start with console development later on, but I believe they feel comfortable with just staying on PC for the time being, and the platform is also a whole lot more open and all that.

I wonder how many times this matter has been discussed.

RE: AMNESIA

Wrong section.
Also, the HPL Engine IS NOT compatible with consoles IIRC.

Maybe HPL3 will.

Amnesia on OUYA?

Sup? I'm making this thread to see if Amnesia's coming to OUYA. Supposedly it is, but it's not officially confirmed yet. I would appreciate a response Smile

RE: Amnesia on OUYA?

As far as we know, there are no plans to release the game on the OUYA or any other console. Frictional Games' next project, SOMA, is strongly rumoured to be coming to the Playstation, but we know nothing more than this.
