Overture issue

In the spider tunnel, right after the excavation room, i put the rock on the acid to get through and after it chases me it auto-save the game and if i die there's nothing i can do becouse when i start again i only have a few seconds before i died again.

Any suggestions?

Damn, i know how to start in the last check point before that, if someone is having the same problem, do not click "continue", click "load" and you will be able to select all the check points
