I agree, Black plague was kinda boring. more of an engine test really... but I found it cute because it was like an evil version of portal

RE: Amnesia VS Penumbra

I disagree, overture a tech demo, yes, but black plague ?

black plague represents an accomplishment for frictional games, one of their best games.
black plague have a better replay value than amnesia
but I still slightly prefer amnesia for some reason, it's my opinion !

well, amnesia and penumbra black plague are 2 exellent games I enjoyed so much, I hate compare them !

My opinion is that Amnesia is scarier than Penumbra, but Penumbra is a better adventure experience.
No need to compare them, however, as they're both excellent games.

RE: Amnesia VS Penumbra

I like Penumbra better than Amnesia, probably for a bunch of reasons. I did play Amnesia before Penumbra, and it's possible I like the latter better because I was hopelessly terrified of Amnesia, but I could actually fight back to some degree in Penumbra (at least in overture). Black Plague, however, was probably scarier than both Overture and Amnesia, at least for most of the middle portions. Probably a combination of 1) not being able to fight back, and 2) the monsters not disappearing after a while like most did in Amnesia.

I haven't finished Requiem yet, but so far my vote is
Overture>Amnesia>Black Plague for gameplay, etc.
Black Plague>Amnesia>Overture for scare factor.

I liked Penumbra better because it had a story line that got me involved. And back when I played it it was the scariest game around, but even still it's not as scary as Amnesia.
I'd suggest you just play them in order of release. (but skip Requiem) Things will get scarier as your play.

I've just started it last night, and I'm still in the room you wake up in (only played for 5 min or so). I'll probably play it anyway, but it seems people don't like it as much.

I really don't see a reason to skip Requiem. It's nice to just do some relaxing puzzles after the journey through Black Plague.
