Can't launch the game (Linux Mint 9)

Hi, could somebody help me? I've downloaded the game, but I can't get it to run under Linux Mint 9.

for any error messages
Also try running
ulimit -c unlimited
And re-running Penumbra and try and recreate the error
then submit the generated core file or stack trace

It states 'penumbra.bin' can't be found, whilst it is there. As the folder '/home/bryan/.frictionalgames/' doesn't exist, that's all the information I can provide.

I would really appreciate any input on this matter, and thanks in advance,
