Custom Story Length

I have decided I would like to make a demo video for my custom story, but I am having issues with recording the gameplay for it. I have fraps, but when I use it, it DRASTICALLY reduces my framerate. And I mean...like....4 fps. Not acceptable. I tried lowering my graphics settings in game, didn't work, and I tried adjusting the framerate fraps captures at, and also didn't work. Does anyone know of any other video recording software (preferably free) that would be good? I am honestly surprised fraps didn't work, it has never given me issues before.

I'm using fraps and it doesn't have something like that. You sure you have one of the latest versions?

Another thing about fraps, when recording a movie with it - it uses ALOT of hard drive space. Any AV program with a live scan could also create performance issues.

Compression takes time, which is crucial while recording. So, make the compression after recording. 1.5GB video is about 100MB.

I have over 400GB left of hard disk space, so that's not the issue. I have recorded other games and had no troubles, which is why I am surprised by this game not working with it. I updated fraps, and still had the same problem.

Oh noticed I was unclear in my previous post. What I meant was:

I was not referring to a lack of hardware space - merely that due to the large amount of disc space written per second to the hard drive an antivirus with a live scan, scanning your large video as it is made, could cause performance issues. If you have an antivirus program, try shutting it down while recording your movie. It has helped me from getting sudden "spikes" or "jumps" in my recordings.

I appreciate the suggestion, but unfortunately I have tried that as well. Oh well. I suppose I'll just have to wait until it's finished rather than post a preview video. Sad day Sad

WeGame is good, doesn't reduce fps at all for me.
