What would you do if you were in Daniel's position?

... The monsters wouldn't die as easily as Humans I bet, since they were Humans as far I read, possessed, and heavily mutilated. (Bones brokes, skin tore, mutations and tumors.) So probably they wouldn't die like Humans would I think, their appearance is merely a vessel for what they truly are. Again, if I understood right that is.

Solid point, I have a pot of acid. Why can't I toss it to monsters ?

The acid couldn't even dissolve an already corroded lock all the way, let alone kill a monster. Sure, it would hurt the monster though.

I think I'd be even more scared in reality if I were Daniel...it would just be awful, and not even as fun. I'd probably have a nervous breakdown and go delirious in the wine cellar or something.

Flesh is a lot weaker than steel. That's why we use swords to cut people. That said, I'm sure acid would work just fine against the gatherers, even if it doesn't work that great against a strong, steel lock.

Well, being that it's just a game, I doubt they would really care to make an animation for partially dissolving the pig and did this out of simplicity.

Yup, I was expecting someone to say that. Actually acid reacts more violently with most metals than it does with flesh.....just the way chemistry works.....physical properties (like hardness, density) matter much less than chemical properties do.
