RE: Games like Penumbra

There's a pretty freaky mod for Half-Life called Mistake-1. It has a few cheap tricks up its sleeve, but it also has a genuinely horrific atmosphere.

I'd also say Mistake-1 and Afraid of Monsters.
BTW, Lee, on your Mistake-1 topic I confused those two, sorry for misunderstanding
Also, if you like, Flesh is a HL2 mod but it's a TPS.

Ooh, a recommendation from both Lee and Tanshaydar? That I haven't played?

By the way, Tanshaydar: did you have a different name before? Although I only rarely log on to these forums (about once a month), I recall the 'Super Moderator' being somebody different last time I noticed; but with a similarly high post count, old join date, long and strange name, and helpful demeanor.

RE: Games like Penumbra

We do seem to both agree on Mistake-1.

I wouldn't recommend Afraid of Monsters. It was creepy at first, but there was too much instant environmental death. I stopped playing when all the lights shut off and I stubbed my way through part of a hospital, only to die by accidentally hitting electric things I could barely see. By the time I reached an elevator shaft (or something) with a ladder that I figured I could use and plummeted to my death, I decided not to continue.

You're probably thinking of Scraper, who is a different person. We have two mods now!

Ah, yes! I just looked through some old posts of mine to confirm, but I was thinking of Scraper. Odd that I remembered his name as being long and strange-looking.

Director's Cut version is way better. First version is way too frustrating, but it still really scares the sh*t out of me.

Flesh is like Penumbra and Amnesi, except it's a TPS, you have no weapon. You have a flashlight and you have to turn it of if you want to hide.

I'm the new guy Tanshaydar has no meaning even in Turkish, it's a special word I combined ( Tansel, my name, and Haydar my first nickname which means warrior in Arabic). I've been using it for 7 years.
