Using the demo for custom stories?

For friends who don't have the game, is it possible for them to use the demo to test my custom story?

I haven't tried it, personally, but I don't think this is possible. If it was, you could just copy all the Amnesia maps and scripts into a custom story file under different (or the same) names and essentially be giving them the entire game for free.

If it is possible, then that is one mother of an oversight on Frictional's part.

Your best bet is probably to either let them use your computer to try it (for testing purposes or just to laugh at them as they soil themselves) or to buy it for them, if they won't spend the money. For $20, it's hardly a significant investment, considering the enjoyment they'll get out of it, but finances are a fickle thing in this economy.

TL;DR: I'm pretty sure they can't use the demo to test your custom story.
