Game Won't Save?

Hello everyone. Having a bit of an issue here. I'll be playing and have to get off the comp, so I click Save and Exit, and exit the game but when I come back it was as if I never played. I'll have to use the explosive to smash through the giant boulders. I've had to do this about 4 times. My friend also made a profile and it did the same to him as well. Any possible help at all would be great. Sorry if it's not very clear or anything. I'm relatively computer-literate, but not very much lol. Thanks for your time.

What version of Amnesia are you playing? (Steam or NonSteam), What OS and version are you using?

My first guess is that either the file permissions are somehow messed up, or you are out of disk space.
