RE: Looking for a computer to play Amnesia!
Excuse me?
I found it hard to believe my friend when he told me, I've never played on Battlefield 3 and don't know anything other than what others have told me about it.
As for the Quadcore/Dualcore comparison, what is wrong with my summary of them?

and for the comparison, Quadcore's are way better for multitasking and games that require them like the battlefield series, for multitasking you will need a quadcore and some good ram, not a dualcore

Multi-tasking isn't the issue. Nevertheless, when quad-cores first came out they were being outperformed by dual-cores. The reason why should be obvious. Today, quad-cores have more than caught up to dual-cores in terms of performance. As for the topic starter's needs, a dual-core @ 2.8ghz would suite him just fine. As for Amnesia, Penumbra and Skyrim, so would the graphics cards i suggested, all being within the $500 budget.

I bought a GeForce GTX 560 Ti OC for only 200 euros and this is really good for gaming.

I don't think you've understood me in the way i've said it.
DUALCORES = Better for general use
QUADCORES = Better for multi-tasking
So I think you agree with me, but you thought that I mean't the opposite?
As for my friend, he could be exaggerating a lot I don't know... I don't want to speak for him.
All I was trying to state was that Battlefield apparently requires a pretty powerful graphics card to be played on extreme settings from what i've gathered.

i get what you meant now, maybe you made a typo here

That's wrong, a QUADCORE is also better for general use than a DUALCORE.
It's faster in any way.

RE: Looking for a computer to play Amnesia!
Yes, but Dualcores are going to be a lot less pricier than a Quadcore... Which is why it is advised that people who want a fairly cheap computer and aren't going to be doing a lot of multi-tasking have a Dualcore rather than a Quadcore. So in the OP's scenario, he'd probably be better off getting a Dualcore?
@Bluefurry,
After checking over it again, it was poorly typed I must admit... It's a common thing if I tend to write unneccessarily long sentences rather than keeping it basic.

RE: Looking for a computer to play Amnesia!
Guys, quad cores are better in any way from dual cores and that is a fact. No argues on that. This guy needs a graphics card capable of supporting OpenGL 2.1. As mentioned above, a geforce 8800GT is advisable for a very good experience. For the best experience a GTX 460 1GB is what you need.
Back on topic now! No more cores etc...
