So are we all agreed that sawing....
Was the worst torture device in the game?
It's come out numerous times as the torture that disgusted the most players. This video, for example, pops up upon searching "Amnesia Worst Torture" on google. The last post on this page in Gamefaqs states that sawing is one of the main reasons the game should not be for children. And in an even more subtle note, I was hosting a game of Mafia on a forum the other day with Amnesia-themed roles (e.g. there was an Alexander, a Daniel, a Brute, a Grunt, etc.) and on one day town had to choose the worst torture device for a lynched player, and sawing was majorly agreed upon.
So sawing is worst y/n?

The one where the person was hung upside-down and sawwed down from the groin? When I saw that painting in the game, I made the most disgusted face. I think I can agree to this being the worst, certainly... I couldn't imagine the pain...
The second would have to be the Stone Table and getting impaled from above, in the chest (first victim in Justine for example)

That reminds me of a Edgar Allen poe book i read when I was like 9, of a death by torture of a guy strapped down on a table, with a big axe swinging back and forth from the ceiling dropping lower each time it swings..

A pendulum? I think I remember reading that story. Was he in a dark black room with a hole in the center?

RE: So are we all agreed that sawing....
Realistically I believe the Brazen Bull probably inflicts more pain, both physically and mentally. You're in a cramped and claustrophobic space that is slowly heating up, and getting slowly roasted to death is much more painful than blood loss because the heating up of the bull takes time. With the saw, the pain is probably much more instantaneously, so your body would adapt to it quicker. Of course, to the audience, getting sawed in half appears much more gruesome.
(How did they extract Vitae from the Bull guy if he got roasted?)
Which reminds me: did Alexander or Daniel even allow the prisoners to choose their torture method? If I was in their situation I'd opt for Rope (Wheel could be a close second). Which could lead to an interesting conversation, depending on how merciful the two are.

A: Prepare this one.
Me: Can't I just be a Grunt or something? I think it'd be cool walking around, smacking shit.
D: A what?
A: Prepare him!
Me: Oh Come OOOOONNNNN!!!

They didn't.
I'd rather be sawed in two than be roasted in the brazen bull.
Still hasn't gotten over the loss of wubwub...

I'd rather be sawed in two than be roasted in the brazen bull. So the green glowing orb, "leaking with madness" (source: Agrippa), was just lying beside the bull for teh lulz?
