Solved: 8 Years, 9 Months ago Sad  Amnesia freezing when recording with Dxtory

Hi guys,

So i've got an issue with Amnesia when recording with Dxtory. I've spoken to the developer of Dxtory and he says it is not his software, but probably some memory leaks in a driver somewhere. I've tried Catalyst 12.4 and im currently using the latest (12.8). My graphics card is the HD6990.

I record at 60fps at 1920x1080 resolution and I can do that with all games stably, except Amnesia. For some reason after about 4-5 minutes of recording perfectly fine, Amnesia stops responding.

Dxtory actually keeps on recording while the game has stopped responding, so i have the background sound of the game still recording etc.

The only thing is, when i am not recording, the game works fine. So it is quite confusing. Seeing as every other game records fine with Dxtory, it leads me to think there is some instability either somewhere in the Amnesia game files (when working with dxtory) or some incompatibility along the line with my card, the graphics drivers, the game and the recording software combined! (if this can be patched your end that would be great)

I've tried everything in terms of changing resolution, turning off all the in game post processing effects, changing recording settings and pretty much everything i can think of to try and stabilise the situation.

So what i'm asking is...does anyone have any idea what could possibly cause this game to crash when using recording software?

Thanks!

I'll attach the HPL Log (even though it doesn't show anything because i have to end task the game when it is frozen)

There is some sort of incompatibility then or this program has issues with OpenGL games. Use another one like Fraps

Here is footage of what happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaZTWv5xO...e=youtu.be

95% of the time it crashes between 4 and 5 mins of recording. This software records every other game I play. Surely if the software couldn't record OpenGL games, it would be displaying problems straight away. The recording is 60fps, smooth and good quality.

Confusing... dont really want to pay for new software just to play one game. Any other tips on this?

Try disabling your antivirus and all other background programs and see if that helps. If the game plays just fine on its own then there is some sort of incompatibility which I cannot address and help with.

I can only put it down to some sort of memory leak, my fps drops in the 5 seconds leading up to the crash. It has to be the graphics card and/or drivers I guess.... are you able to pass this on to ATI and see if they can patch something for it? Thanks.

No I'm not, I have nothing to do with ATI (which is AMD now). Try installing the latest Catalyst. Other than that, nothing can be done.
