I did?

Funny thing. I can't remember at all.

yeah because i posted a picture about how dumb it was that people actually thought they were smarter than others cause they don't listen to pop and then you and bridge started talking about how you don't understand why you'd listen to pop when you could listen to more complex and artistic music and idk it was in the random thread i don't feel like digging it up

Before you start pointing fingers, I just want to go on record by saying I don't believe in all the bullshit that surrounds the popular perception of classical music, for example the "Mozart effect". I was arguing the merits of classical over other kinds of music from a purely musical perspective (really though, I was arguing artistic music is better than non-artistic music - the semantics are all over the place and I don't really want to rekindle that debate).

RE: RAGE THREAD!!!

yes but it's because of that simplicity that it's accessible and considered pop music, because it's not hard to find enjoyment out of it since there really isn't a whole lot going on

so then one could concur that based on this statement:

that you'd love pop music and listen to it all the time, which you pretty clearly stated wasn't the case at all

i don't get it

Oh no

I simply meant that I've already developed a taste (for instrumental music) that is quite accessible to me due to my training as a pianist

Why should I try to acquire a taste for something else less accessible

Edit: The obvious answer is "well to get more open minded with music" but no one is possibly open minded to every musical genre and I don't want to listen to much else

RE: RAGE THREAD!!!

because more dissonant and abrasive forms of music opens up a whole different array of emotions that few other styles even come close to matching (more in depth). a lot of that stuff i've been able to connect with way stronger on an emotional level just for those very reasons

and also i know a good dozen or so people who dig at least one band out of every single genre i could think of so yea, i have no clue how you can stick to just 1 or 2 and be satisfied though
