That's not correct. Sandy Bridge was colder when overclocking, Ivy hotter. Haswell is in between and it's not something to worry about. Forget about it.

@ Smoke: Yes, if you have a 1TB HDD then a 120GB Samsung 840 is great. The only difference between an i5 and an i7 is Hyper Threading from which you won't benefit unless video editing. If your concern is games, there won't be any difference (maybe a very slight one at the moment). When games start to utilize more cores, then yes.

Now for cpu cooling there is water & air. Water is always better but more expensive and sometimes noisy. Since you are not an advanced user and won't really push the overclocking capabilities of the cpu that much you can buy a good and silent air cooler. Do you care about silence?

With overclocking you get free performance in expense of power consumption & heat. Totally worth it. It needs reading though at first and time. Just so you know.

RE: My new computer

Alright, so the setup I got now is perfect? (With the i5)
Yeah, I'd prefer a silent computer. It's really frustrating when your computer makes a bunch of noise.
Are there special CPU coolers? Or is an additional fan fine?

RE: My new computer

I'm looking for the 2 screens on the first post of this thread.. I got an samsung SyncMaster p2350 atm with some cheap acer screen as 2nd screen.
Keyboard: Roccat Isku
Mouse: Cyborg R.A.T 9 (Brand new)
I never use an headset, but my speakers are harman/kardon soundsticks 2.
I won't replace those, I'm just looking for a new pc.

RE: My new computer

Then you are ready to go. These are some great hardware in the price point that you set.

For the screens I'm not sure. They are TN panels. IPS, VA etc... are always better for viewing angles and color accuracy. TN panels are those which change the colors drastically when you look at them from a different angle rather than straight ahead. The only reason to get these nowadays would be lower response times but primarily 3D gaming (meaning 120-144Hz displays). For 60Hz there are better solutions out there.

You said you want two displays? Do you play games on both of them or one is used for something else? I'm asking because a) AMD has a more optimized/easy multi-monitor support and b) in that case you need to find monitors with slim bezels preferably.

RE: My new computer

I mainly use my screens for either videos, streams, games or pictures for modelling. I'm having them like there's one on the left and one on the right of me atm. I'd like to keep it that way, so I guess those aren't a good choice.. So I gotta look for IPS and/or VA screens?
Could you also recommend some screens? I'm willing to pay max. $600 for the 2,

I know, I have seen videos, read articles etc... It's not something to worry about. With descent cooling (only when overclocking of course) you won't have any problems.

RE: My new computer

I just found a gorgeous case (link) and I think I fell in love... I'm just not sure if I can fit the water cooling for my CPU (link). I saw on newegg that the case supports water cooling, but not on the top of the case, so I'm not sure if it'll fit.
Could you guys help me out?

RE: My new computer

The case is not made for water cooling but rather air cooling. It's a rare case so it's hard to find any info whether it is compatible. However, there is one thread that says that it is compatible but only with 4 screws:

According to that user, you can mount it only with the 4 screws at the edges. There are no holes for those 4 at the middle because normally there is a 230mm case fan there.
