I'm a newfag so be gentle.

Never had the opportunity to play the two original Fallouts (and I can't see myself doing it now either cause old games + newer systems = headaches) but I always thought that between the two contemporary Fallouts New Vegas was better.

Better rpg systems.

Better writing (dear lord, Bethesda's writing is dry).

Better world overall.

Better atmosphere.

Etc.

The only thing Fallout 3 had was the intro sequence which was great aaaandddddddd that was it. Then you exit the vault and disappointment reigns.

Really wish Obsidian were the ones developing the next Fallout, not Bethesda. Bethesda hasn't been a good developer (but a good publisher to a certain degree) since after TES: Oblivion.

Woah, what about Skyrim?

On-topic. One thing I disliked about Fallout NV was the difficulty curve. I did all the missions up to hoover dam then downloaded the DLCs and was hugely dissapointed. The dialogues were so dreary. The f*cking brains would not shut up and then there were the enemies. The never f*cknig die. Running around with a 50. cal rifle and they take forever to kill.

I disliked Skyrim, quite a bit.

Bethesda clearly catered to a difference audience and diluted the game.

Never played the dlc for NV, should do so soon.

I really hate Oblivion, a very bad game, and I could easily say the same thing for Skyrim based on what I've played so far. But Morrowind is a masterpiece.

Honestly, I like Skyrim because it's so much easier to digest than Oblivion. In Oblivion, I always ended up in the thieves guild and got bored shortly after.

On-topic, I really want to get NV. Can't get 3 because Windows 7 problems. I tried the first fallout but it's kind of dated IMO. Didn't really hold my interest.

My first TES game was Morrowind, I should say and then Oblivion and Skyrim.

I loved Oblivion.

The character models were HORRIBLE (still have nightmares about it) but the rpg systems and gameplay was pretty good. Nothing beats Morrowind though.

I still have memories (both in Morrowind and Oblivion) of going out of a main city early in the morning. Casually walking/jogging through nature and looking at the sunrise and thinking "man, this game is gorgeous in its own way".

And no offense, but me saying all the things that made me hate Skyrim would count as thread derailment and I don't want to further derail it haha.

Back on topic:

I loved (in New Vegas and Fallout 3) all the little short stories tucked in the dungeons. That was a great touch. World building through dungeons and gameplay. Been years since last I played both of them but the Nuka Cola factory in 3 and the vaults in NV were damned memorable.

The thing I hated most about the Fallout games (3, NV) was the invisible walls.

I can probably walk through this man-sized whole in a wall. Nope, apparently not.

Well every game will have them.

As long as they're feasible or well hidden then it's fine for me.

Except they're not in fallout. I can understand if they're at the border of the map but not on hills.
