Existence Hypothetical
If, for an arbitrarily tiny unit of time, every cell in our body was completely incinerated, and then immediately brought back to their former state (but the unit of time passes), would this person be the exact same being as you right now? Could your conscious mind now belong to the recreated person?

RE: Existence Hypothetical
Star Trek is pretty corny.
Although this question is also relevant to SOMA. So I'd say NOPE.

RE: Existence Hypothetical
If they were returned the exact same way, then yes.
Given that, technically, our entire being is imprinted upon the neurons in our heads.

RE: Existence Hypothetical
Most likely, our mind works with neurons and synapses, by their cooperation.
Personality depends on the difference of synapse structure and on the amount of both cells

RE: Existence Hypothetical
Its a scary thought, to suddenly forget everything or have not have any recollection of everyone/everything around you. While I hope that my memory preserves in this situation, I feel that the only change would be to some of the contents within myself (processed food, urine, etc).
The thing about the unit of time though is also dependant. Someone in a coma indused state can undergo some issues with their ability to move their muscles, bones, and perhaps lose some senses to a degree (going off memory here).
However, in response, I feel that a person would find themselves not exactly as they were, but is quite possible they would be in a state which is considered close to it.

RE: Existence Hypothetical
Indeed, if you hit your head hard enough, you might even lose your current personality.

RE: Existence Hypothetical
But hitting your head really hard makes your neurons jumble about and die, changing synapse firing and what is left to fire off of/send the messages. Hence the change in personality/memory,
Froge here says that EVERY single thing goes back to EXACTLY as it was before.

Brain cells are also incinerated?
A)If no, then of course it would be the same person. After all, our cells (except neurons and other cells in our brain) die every 4 months approximately.
B)If yes then it depends. Will they be replaced with identical brain cells? Will they contain the same information?
Bi)If yes then it will be the same person.
Bii)If not then we are talking about a different person.
•I have found the answer to the universe and everything, but this sign is too small to contain it.

RE: Existence Hypothetical
The problem can be only solved by testing. Who wants to be a candidate?
Speaking of brain stuff, what would happen if you remove half of persons brain and plant it to another person, who has no brain.(Human can live with only one half of a brain. )
Would there then be two of this personality?

Sorry but we cannot change your avatar as the new avatar you specified is too big. The maximum dimensions are 80x80 (width x height)
