RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread
Think SOMA will work on this computer?
AMD Phenom II x3 3ghz
4GB RAM
Radeon HD 4890 1GB
I know the requirements say "Radeon HD 5000 series" but a 4890 is more powerful than all but the top cards in the 5000 series...
I'm really just hoping it will run, at 30 fps.
Edit: I can run both Amnesia games at 60 fps 1080p, High settings

Well, according to the steam page, i would say yes but on low-medium settings. Im not a computer freak but it fits the minimum requirements from the steam page.
Your GPU isnt integrated, but still not very good and it demands a GPU from the Nvidia Geforce set. Not sure but i think it will run, even though not on high settings.
My specs in case you guys are interested:
Intel Core i5-4670k CPU @ 3.40GHz
8 GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti
I think i can run it. But on which settings?
The question that will never be answered:
SOMA WHY ARE YOU SO BEAUTIFUL? ;_;

This interests me aswell.

No, it does not demand Geforce GPU. You can run it on any Radeon 5000 series with 1GB of VRAM. You should be able to run the game on high settings, while the guy you quoted will play just fine on medium settings. Not sure about integrated GPUs though since they're not supported. What fascinates me though, is the fact the game requires 25GB of disk space available. It's more than all their previous games bundled together.
Oh, also, anyone knows if OpenGL is still used?

RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread
Can someone answer my question please? I want to pre-order, but actually I'm not sure at which store. GOG is DRM-free, but there will be no Humble Store? And is the Steam version also DRM-free? I mean that you can play it just by applying the launcher without login to your account.
This is important for me, because I want to burn the files on a blu-ray disc. So I want DRM-free files and if it's possible not the GOG-setup.

Well, in GOG it is DRM-free but if it was on steam they would say that in the game page. 90% of the games in steam are not DRM-free, so idk if you can do much.

RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread
Is their a reason to why people prefer DRM-Free games?
From what I know from Steam, If i log-in into my account without internet connection. It will allow me to play any single-player games. It might have a 24-hour lock-out period, but that's enough time to reset the lock if your having issues getting decent connection.

RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread
That's not true, not sure where did you get such idea.
You can play games offline only if the game does not have steam stub integrated. Mostly it just indies. If it has steam stub (9*% of the games pretty much) then it WILL start Steam and try to connect and if it fails - no dice. There could be 1-3 exceptions out of 4k game available on Steam tho, but that's insignificant.
With GoG version you can play it anytime (and anywhere).

Take a look at this launcher-free games on Steam.
