What happens is that any interaction with the mouse (moving or clicking) just causes my view to look up at the ceiling and it spins, as if the character is spinning... the sounds match this, going from right to left as the picture spins. I can't play at all. Once I've touched the mouse, all I can see is the ceiling.

I've installed the patch (1.2) for Windows, and I have also updated my video drivers (fresh install). Neither have fixed my issue. I've also tried switching to a different mouse, and that had no impact.


I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit (service pack 2), and Nvidia GeForce GTX 280. Any help would be appreciated.

1) Make sure you have this installed:

2) Reinstall the game and make sure it is updated to the latest patch(v1.2). Delete the folder My Documents/Amnesia/ so that the launcher will be able to completely recreate it, and then when you launch the game, hit the "Detect" button to have it choose settings for you, then launch the game.

Warning: By deleting this folder you lose any progress but you haven't played anything yet so you shouldn't mind about that...

3) Run the game in windowed mode and not full screen. Also, at the launcher try a lower resolution like 1024x768 or even lower like 800x600. This works for most people.

I did all of this, and I tried the lowest resolution also. None of this fixed it. Is there anything else?

If it does stuff like this in other games, you may need a new mouse.
My mouse does the same thing sometimes, and I know it's crapping out... it has caused me to die a couple times. ಠ_ಠ

Judging from the errors, I think it's a corrupted install, especially if it worked before installing patch.

It doesn't do this in any other game. I tried a different mouse, and nothing changed.

The game has been reinstalled, about 3 times so far.

If you have bought the game from Frictional Store, try installing full game with 1.2, not patch. I don't think first install was successful.

I didn't buy it from the frictional store. I am installing from disc. This isn't the first install. It has been installed multiple times already.

Disable your antivirus, firewall
Turn Vsync off
Set the graphics all to off and the lowest including resolution & the various effects like blur and insanity

Okay, I tried those things this morning also, except vsync which I just tried and it had no impact. To reiterate, it isn't just the graphics that spin. The sound follows the movement, meaning the character is actually spinning in the game. It seems to be an input issue rather than graphics issue. We know it isn't the game install since it has been reinstalled and updated multiple times, and it isn't the mouse since the mouse has been uninstalled and replaced also. It has to have something to do with the way mouse input and the game communicate. Does anyone have knowledge of that? Is there support for this game from the company that released the game?
