Hi i don't know if you are using unity or not for your game has i didn't read all the posts, but i just wanted to show you that Unity can be made to make a similar game to Amnesia very easely, here is a game concept that i did on Unity 3.2 .

we are still working on the perfect story and just started programming a bit
i use udk, it is hard but i can do it
