Maybe in Denmark it's legal to drink beer at 16. In Portugal, the minimum legal age for drinking beer and wine is 16 years old, and 18 for beverages with a higher percentage of alcohol.

Well... Everyone in Denmark can drink. It's the buying age that's 16.

In Sweden, you're allowed to drink alcohol (of any kind) when you're 18 but you can't purchase alcohol from the liquor store (systembolaget*) until you're 20 (previously 21), it's still ok to purchase alcohol at clubs, pubs and the like when you're 18 though.

Interestingly, restaurants make really huge profits because of this, since the price of alcohol at the pub/restaurants etc. costs roughly 2-4 times or more depending on what you're ordering, compared to the liquor store. So people go to the restaurant to pay 50-70 SEK for a beer for two years until they can buy one for 10-20 SEK at Systembolaget. People drink less and the restaurants go with huge profits, so I ain't complaining.

*Systembolaget is owned by the state and has monopoly on alcohol retailing, so if you want to get drunk just ask for Systembolaget!
