Petitions have literally never worked. The only thing developers take seriously in situations like these is money. If this became a Kickstarter project then you would really see how many people actually want to play it and developers would have not only assurance that people would play it, they would also get the game funded in the meantime.

Though I agree a 100% with you, it's better than nothing!
