Delete the settings.cfg file in My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode1

And then try and run the game with audio in software mode and not hardware mode, there are some problems with audio hardware at the moment (in particular with X-Fi cards) and it's being looked into. Hope that makes it more stable!
