RE: Making a sneaky monster :3 and modelling

i want a monster, that sneaks up on the player. when it sees the player (but the player dont sees it) it sneaks slowly and quietly towards the player. when the player sees it, it acts as usual.

so i would need a monster with very high senses (so it will find the player faster) to prevent it getting too easy. and i would have to tweak the sounds more quiet. and i would need something like an area applied to the model and when the player looks at it, the monster triggers.

so is it possible as i think it is?

and modelling
i looked for modelling programs and lots of you suggested maya and blender. i tried blender, and i absolutely disliked it. its definately me, because i tried it for 1 hour or something and it would surely need longer to learn. some told me it takes years. but to be honest its not worth it for me to do that for a free custom story.
so i looked at silo 2.2 and after watching some videos i downloaded the demo. it took me like 1 hour to create a head. but unfortunately you cant save in the demo ._.

so, the point is, why did you tell me not to use silo? i know of the exporting problems, but ive also heard of collada for silo (but couldnt really find it Tongue )

thanks for reading Smile
Well first of all I have never heard of silo, and I dont think you should expect people to, and why would people recommend something they have never heard of, or dont know much about. 3ds max and maya are pretty much the standards as far as I know but blender is popular as well since you dont need any kind of license to use it. The main reason silo is not as well known I would guess is probably because it seems to not be an all in one software, but only made for modelling/texturing.

I saw the video on Silo's webpage just now and I did not see anything in it you cant do with blender which is the software im primarily using(cant speak for maya and 3ds max). Still it did seem to be able to do what you would expect effectively and probably a lot more then what was feutured in the video.
I also dont know about support for it since im pretty sure only blender, maya and 3ds max was used in developing amnesia and even they can be strugling with exports a lot.

Now taking a look at the first tutorial on the page to get a super basic idea of it I see that the tutor used a basehead(which would make it a lot easier) that seems to have been build in...and I cant help but wonder if you used that or actually created something from scratch(starting with a box).

using a basemesh is pretty normal in all 3d software but most of the time they are not build in so you need to find them online which is pretty easy.

So can we see a screenshot of that head you made in Silo maybe?
