I just updated the [public_beta] version on steam to try to setup surround sound if it is available. If you can I'd like you to test it out and post a new hpl.log file. You can try out this version by doing the following:

1. right click SOMA in your library
2. click properties
3. click BETAS tab
4. select "public_beta" from drop-down list
5. click LOCAL FILES tab
6. click VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE...

If it doesn't fix surround sound for you the information in the log should help me get this addressed. Thanks.
