I hope I'll find how to use pointlights in the right way.
Hehe, thanks Smile

Best way is to look at the original maps and see what they did, second best is to ask the forum (or look it up on the wiki) Big Grin

I'd offer my help, but I'm still rather new at all this and there are much more capable people on this forum - although if you want to ask me, I'll help where I can

Edit: (@Danny Boy/Jim Laddie/I'm-not-keeping-track Tongue) Sounds like a good idea, I'll see what I can do about the billboards Smile

RE: Screenshot criticism thread

EDIT: Danny said it right, lol I read him wrong.

People often make the mistake of making billboards too bright and use less of them. You want more, dim, and angled billboards. It makes the edges of billboards less noticeable and more full of light, like it should be. Billboards are supposed to replicate fog within the light rays. Often, billboards don't cover the entire light area, even in the original game, and it makes me iffy =\ The key is to use more of them, angled, and darker. they'll even themselves out and give themselves the depth you;re looking for.

Example I searched on google:
[Image: stock-photo-light-beams-inside-abandoned...853855.jpg]

Notice how the light rays (billboards) reach the edges of the light projected at the bottom? This is what you should aim for the best you can.

The billboards look fine in my opinion. Since this is a menu map, you could get away with actually sticking a large blue halo billboard (the spherical one used on candles and such) behind the rays to give it a bit more bloom and dramatic effect.

I have been working on a new cellar level. I got satisfied with the light, but it feels like it could use some fine-tuning. Give me your opinions! (NOTE! There is a window on the oposite wall of the other window.)
Spoiler below!

The stairs has a very small space between the corridor in front of it.

How would people be able to go right or left when they come down the stairs?

You might want to add more space between them.

I like the spotlight.
Some billboards maybe?

Maybe some more dust.
Moist on the walls.

A few boxes maybe.

Trying is the first step to success.

Thanks for the reply!
The staircase has enough space for the player to fit through (like 1½ player size) but I might scale it down slightly to make the gap larger. Boxes and stuff has been added to fill out empty spaces.
The billboards are already there, but on the oposite window since the lightrays does not enter from two oposite directions.

First, it looks a bit empty. Also lighting-wise. Try adding some shelves and decals! More decorations! Smile
Also about lighting, try adding a soft boxlight to the room and some point lights that match the lamps, you'll make it more realistic!

Second: Put WELDERS at the default wall gaps! You see the textures of the walls of cellarbase don't match. You have to put a wall welder between them and it'll look nicer!
