UPDATE 1:

I have just made a special version of the exe that times and logs what takes place in the engine. The exe is attached to this post.

If you have had problems with the game going terrible slow at certain places with dogs while all other areas have been great please do this:
1) Download the zipped exe attached to this post.
2) Put it in the redist folder of penumbra overture.
3) Run the new exe ("PenumbraUpdateTiming.exe")
4) Go to a place in the game where the slowdown happens and then exit the game (either by menu or Ctrl Alt Del).
5) Go to "My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode 1/" and zip "hpl_update.log".
6) Attach the zip to a post and specify your computer system (OS, gfx card, cpu, etc) and game settings (resolution, shadows?, bloom?,etc)

Hopefully this will allow me to fix the problem!

This exe gave me slowdowns everywhere. Didn't work at all really (started but had unplayable fps)

Isn't specifically problems with dogs usully, but it gets worse around dogs. Heres two logs in one file.

EDIT: Nvm... Cant upload the logs for some reason :/

Chances are the attachement was to big, as it's only text please zip the attachement first and it will be very much smaller in size.

Blanel:
Could you please specify your cpu, graphics card, etc? And please attach logs as Jens suggestion. (Removed bad advice)

Cpu: Pentium 4 1.8 ghz running Intell Aplication Accelerator drivers.
GPU: Radeon 9600 running Catalyst 7.4
RAM: 512 SDRAM PC133
OS: WinXP Home Edition SP2
AV: Norton Internet Security 2007
SC: Sound Blaster Live.

I couldn't write the logs to the post for some reason. Heres a new zip with two seperate logs instead of two in one file.

Ironshaft A usually runs fine (with the exception for the last run towards door). Ironshaft B is usually crap. With this excutable both run crap Smile

Blanel:
What settings do you have? Resolution, etc?

I cannot find any cpu hog so I think the problem is with the rendering and is fixable by turning down the graphics.
