"unnerving steampunk Victoriana that plays on some of the more sinister real-world happenings of late 1800s Britain."

I couldn't imagine a better setting for this game...

If I can see correctly, the dining room pic is labeled 'Fattening' in the lower corner, and the mechanical one is 'Boiler Room'.

Haven't seen those pieces on ben's DA and blog, though. Besides, may be it just my horrible LCD display at workplace, but painting technique differs from his usual work? Hmm, not sure, I need to check it more carefully when I get home. The signature says BA though.

Love that recent interview with Dan - it sounds like he totally gets it, and also recognises the weaknesses within A:TDD.

This quote interested me:

“We’re trying to look at ways of making everything in the game in the game,”
stresses Pinchbeck, “so you’re never breaking out of the action –
you’re constantly in it. There is no recourse to any kind of screens,
you’re just permanently in.”

So from that I assume that perhaps there is going to be no inventory screen, etc? If so, how will you know what you're carrying, etc? I would hope that such items would no be on the display permanently, as that too would of course break the immersion.

We'll see. Smile

It means no inventory screen, it also means that you won't carry around stuff other than with your hands. This also means there will be no "use item X on thing Y" puzzles, other than Penumbra Requiem type puzzles.

Purrhupps something I've wanted to see in a game for a long long time, the character actually opening up a backpack or something infront of you to take a peek at what you have, rather than the items just teleporting to you out of your ass.

That's what I was thinking too, and I think that's what they had in Penumbra's early stages.

Also about no recourse to screens, does that mean no loading screens? If they manage to do that I will be impressed.

I do have to admit, the top one looks damn creepy.
