The fun speculation has gone south with all these perhaps too tightly held personal beliefs. No two people have the same opinion of a game or what a game could-be/should-be. So people shouldn't take it as a personal insult against themself just because someone thinks differently. If you get mad every time someone disagrees with you and you can't politely state your opinion in a way that doesn't demean the person you're in a discussion with, then you're going to live a sad and frustrating life that I wouldn't envy.

We should start discussing the excitement and potential tied into the announcing of a new Amnesia installment, like I originally intended.

- A Machine for Pigs is not a sequel. It's only set in same universe, just like Justine.
- Nothing prevents anyone to create custom stories either.
- It's a collaboration between theChineseRoom and Frictional Games so we are likely to see some changes. But it seems like FG will act as producer and tCR will act as developer this time.
- The Dark Swarm has been there before Amnesia and will be thee after Amnesia, and it has nothing to do with Amnesia, and Frictional Games is working on a full fledged new game, non-related to Amnesia.

I don't think this was the reaction FG was expecting when they announced this new installment. People are taking this whole thing way too seriously.

That said, I'm looking forward to whatever TCR and FG come up with, and we shall see then whether all of this fighting was really worth the effort.

I've been keeping track a little, and SquigPie was not being driven by blind rage. His position was not as elaborate as my own but apart from the "arrogant f-" bit, he's been remarkably civil. Kein's mention of Dead Space to say that Dear Esther was "2deep4u" was very immature and actually angered me a lot. SquigPie wasn't having a big discussion with Kein, but he certainly wasn't derailing a thread with a rant. thechineseroom's (horrendous) development history is very relevant and many users are just as worried as he is that A Machine for Pigs can turn out to be dreadful.
