Story of course. Atmosphere is pretty useless if you don't have an interesting story driving it forward.

While it is important to have a visual style that accurately represents it, a good story can make up for a lot of shortcomings related to gameplay and graphics. I don't really agree that it is necessarily going to be boring, because graphics are really just something that can make a good game better. A boring game with good graphics is much worse than that.

I'm hoping that this game will scare me as much as Amnesia: TDD did when I first played it. Maybe i'll find a bag of milkyways again.

The graphics for amnesia were pretty good imo, and the developers for AMFP have said that they're going to do a lot of work on upping the graphics so it should be good

Atmosphere for me. Jump scares are never used in the original game and are WAY over used in custom stories, fair enough they are scary, but it just gets the heart racing.
I prefer the game to lead on with not much happening, like in the original, then it slowly introduces new scares
